Supporting Young Athletes with Nutrition & Strength and Conditioning

The idea and passion behind Future Athletes grew from first-hand experience and research into the challenges faced by young athletes.

Adam’s MSc dissertation, ‘Nutrition knowledge in professional academy football players: a cross sectional survey’, demonstrated gaps in knowledge and the challenges that youth athletes face.

The body of research into youth athlete nutrition shows that there is a need to support parents and guardians, athletes and coaches with better nutrition information and simple solutions to eating well, ultimately enhancing health and performance.

MSc, Cert CISN

Hello and welcome to Future Athletes! I’m a registered Nutritional Therapist (mBANT) with a special interest in Integrative Sports Nutrition, focusing on youth athletes and team sports. I have supported hundreds of athletes to enhance their performance through focused sports nutrition. I’m also an experienced Level 3 Personal Trainer and run youth athlete strength & conditioning group sessions, as well as one-to-one services.

Experience in Youth Sports Nutrition & Performance

After several years of running my successful private practice, I undertook a Masters degree to further develop my expertise and graduated with an MSc in Nutritional Therapy from the University of Worcester in 2022. I’m also a graduate of the Centre for Integrative Sports Nutrition (CISN). This perspective on sports nutrition provides a fresh understanding of the synergy between health and performance for each individual. I take this approach into my private practice and into my role as Nutritionist for Cheltenham Town FC, where I work with academy players from age 9 to 18, in addition to supporting the first team on a one-to-one basis. Alongside Future Athletes, I work with sports clients of all ages, from amateur to elite to professional, at my private practice in Cheltenham.

First-Hand Experience as a Sporting Parent

As a dad of two youth footballers who have played at different levels from grassroots to academy, I’ve experienced first hand the challenges that come with training schedules, travelling across the country for matches and the constant need to keep feeding them! When I’m not working, you’ll find me up in the Cotswold hills walking or running with my border collie, making my signature chicken curry or on the touchline watching my boys!
