STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

Why Strength & Conditioning Matters

Physical activity improves overall health in children by reducing the risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and depression among other chronic medical conditions.

Youth who participate in organised sports can reap benefits beyond those associated with physical activity alone, including improving confidence, self-esteem, and providing an opportunity to work on social interaction.

Who is our Strength & Conditioning for?

Primarily for young athletes aged 9-17, our strength & conditioning sessions are based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

In our Group S&C sessions we develop young athletes from a range of different starting points (you don’t have to be excellent at a sport to benefit) and a Girls-Only Group.  We also provide sessions for Sports Teams, complementing their sport-specific training with overall athletic development which is fantastic for team bonding too.

Our one-to-one strength & conditioning offers a more personalised approach for athletes striving for a goal or those who prefer individual coaching.

Over 60 youth athletes already attend our after-school groups throughout the week, as well as during school holidays and special events.

For families who are not local to Gloucestershire, the Future Athletes Online membership is ideal to access S&C videos and other resources to help your young athletes train from anywhere.

The benefits of Strength & Conditioning for Youth Athletes

Regular and consistent strength & conditioning can help to reduce the risk of injury, improve coordination and agility, enhance bone mineral density, and build a strong base for any sport.

Sport-specific training such as football, swimming or rugby can help a child become better at that sport, and strength and conditioning is highly beneficial alongside sports training to develop overall strength, mobility and athleticism for longer term health and performance during youth and beyond.

If it is important to you that your child or teenager learns effective, age-appropriate movement patterns, is taught how to become stronger safely and encouraged to progress over time to reach their potential, Future Athletes is your solution.

We follow the guidelines set out by United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) and we apply youth athletic development models to our programme design.
